ETSU senior captain helps guide Bucs to a 2-0 week
MACON, Ga. (Oct. 28, 2013) – A week after breaking the all-time Atlantic Sun kills record, ETSU senior captain Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) landed her second Player of the Week honor of the season as the league office announced its weekly volleyball awards on Monday.
Devine helped guide ETSU to wins over Mercer and USC Upstate, putting the Bucs back in sole possession of first-place in the A-Sun standings. The Kingsport, Tenn. native averaged 4.86 kills (34 total) and 3.86 digs (27 total) per set to extend ETSU’s home win streak to 11.
The reigning A-Sun Player of the Year began the week with a 21-kill, 12-dig effort in the four-set win versus Mercer on Tuesday night inside Brooks Gym, and followed things up with a 13-kill, 15-dig performance in the sweep over USC Upstate on Friday night. Devine also hit .344 against the Spartans, and has now registered double-doubles in five consecutive matches.
This marks the second weekly honor for the physical education major this season and the fourth of Devine’s career.
ETSU closes out its homestand Tuesday night when the Bucs host Kennesaw State at 6 p.m., inside Brooks Gym.
