            KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 27, 2013) – Carding a 2-under-par 70 during first round play Sunday in the Palmetto Intercollegiate, ETSU sophomore Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia) put herself into contention for the individual championship and currently stands fourth on the leaderboard at the Turtle Point Golf Course.

             As a team, the Buccaneers were tied for fourth place when second round action was postponed due to darkness Sunday evening. The 53rd-ranked Bucs will be tied with Georgia State, while No. 39 Kansas will lead over No. 42 College of Charleston and No. 36 Illinois when play resumes Monday. Second round play will be completed, immediately followed by the third and final round.

            ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton said weather played a factor in the Bucs’ Sunday scores.

             “We had a quality first round, but we dropped some shots when the wind picked up,” Shelton said. “We have an opportunity for a comeback and this team is determined to come out tomorrow and play well.”

             The Bucs are certainly in position to make a move, as they are just one stroke back of third place and only eight strokes out of first place Kansas.

             Individually, Chin finished the day’s play three strokes behind the leaders, which are currently College of Charleston’s Laura Fuenfstueck and GRU Augusta’s Jessica Haigwood.

             Other ETSU results included a tie for ninth by senior Lourdes Lopez (Cadiz, Spain), while fellow senior Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) and junior Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany) both ended the day tied for 45th.
