AUGUSTA, Ga. (March 16, 2013) – After second round play in the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate Saturday at the Forest Hills Golf Club, the ETSU women’s golf team finds itself ahead of three teams ranked in the Top 50 nationally.

The Buccaneers finished the second round alone in seventh place on the team leaderboard, ahead of teams such as No. 22 Texas, No. 34 Kentucky and No. 48 Texas-San Antonio. ETSU was led on Saturday by junior Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) and sophomore Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany), both of whom posted team-best rounds of 3-over-par 75.

“We had a tremendous start today,” said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. “We lost a few shots coming in, but we are really looking forward to playing tomorrow and making a move.”

Three of the six teams ahead of the Bucs on the leaderboard are ranked in the Top 26 nationally, with No. 9 Vanderbilt holding a three-stroke edge over No. 16 Purdue for the top spot in the tournament. Individually, Augusta State’s Natalie Wille is playing well for the host team and leads the individually competition by one stroke.

For ETSU, senior Chloe Garner (Somerset West, South Africa) continues to post the best showing for the Bucs and is currently tied for 20th at 151 (74-77). Meanwhile, Evans and Wahl are tied for 26th along with teammate Lourdes Lopez (Cadiz, Spain).

The Bucs will return Sunday for third and final round action, and fans can watch live scoring by visiting Golfstat.com and clicking on the tournament link. ETSUBucs.com will also provide a complete wrap up of the day’s action following the round.
