Highest ranking of season

SKILLMAN, N.J. (Feb. 27, 2013) – The ETSU men’s tennis team climbed to No. 60 in the latest ITA Men’s Team Rankings, released by the association on Tuesday.

ETSU (4-4) faced some tough competition Monday, squaring up with then-No. 8 Georgia on the road. The Buccaneers gave the Bulldogs a fight, highlighted by senior Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela) defeating Nathan Pasha – ranked No. 21 at the time of the matchup.

The weekend prior, ETSU defeated then-No. 60 Georgia State, 4-0, and played Nebraska – currently No. 40 – coming up just short, 4-2. ETSU has faced five ranked teams on the 2013 campaign, holding a record of 2-3 in those contests.

ETSU’s current ranking of No. 60 is its highest of the season. ETSU began the year at No. 71 and stayed between that and No. 75 for four weeks before coming up unranked in the ITA’s Feb. 19 poll.

The Buccaneer men’s tennis team gets the conference season underway Saturday in Spartanburg, S.C., against USC Upstate. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
