LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 4, 2012) – Junior Megan Devine (Kingsport, Tenn.) continued to add more accolades to her outstanding season as the Buccaneer outside hitter was placed on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Honorable Mention list on Tuesday afternoon.

Devine – who already received Atlantic Sun Player of the Year and Tournament MVP honors – broke several records and reached two special milestones in 2012. The Kingsport, Tenn., native joined the historic 1,000-kill/1,000-dig club earlier this season and broke A-Sun records for double-doubles (25), double-doubles in conference only matches (15), attack attempts (1,586) and attack attempts in conference only matches (839). In addition, Devine posted 547 kills in the 36 matches played, which ranks first all-time in the ETSU record book, while her 3.94 kills per set average was the fifth highest mark in program history.

Meanwhile, Devine recorded double-digit kills 33 times and registered 20-plus kills six times – including a 21-kill, 26-dig effort in the win over Mercer on October 9. The 26 digs set a career high for the Buccaneer standout, while her 25-kill performance in a win over Akron back in August tied the highest total among A-Sun players, as well as a personal best.

In addition to Devine’s statistics on the court, she was also honored for her work in the classroom by being selected to the A-Sun All-Academic Team. Devine currently has a 3.556 cumulative grade point average while majoring in physical education.
