KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 29, 2012) – ETSU true freshman Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia) wrapped up the ETSU women’s golf team’s fall schedule in fine fashion Monday afternoon, posting a second place finish individually and leading the Buccaneers to a runner-up team showing in the final round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Oak Point Golf Club.

Carding her best score of the tournament and the day’s low round for any Buccaneer player, Chin finished at 1-under-par 71 and tied for second with two other players. Ending the event four strokes back of individual champion Mario Jose Benavides of Campbell, Chin finished the three round event at 1-over-par 217 (73-73-71).

Meanwhile, the Bucs posted a team score of 887 despite tough weather conditions and finished in second place behind team champion Campbell.

“I’m very proud of our ladies and finishing in second place with a score of 2-over-par on the last day is impressive in these conditions,” said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. “Today was a great way to end a very, very solid fall schedule. I’m really excited about what we’ve accomplished so far this season and I’m looking forward to seeing this team continue to play well in the spring.”

Shelton was particularly pleased with Chin’s play.

"Vivienne had a wonderful tournament and we were really happy to see her finish in second place,” Shelton said. “I think this is just a glimpse of her potential and we’re ready to watch her play like this for the next four years.”

Along with Chin, ETSU sophomore Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany) finished tied for 18th, while junior transfer Lourdes Lopez (Cadiz, Spain) tied for 23rd. In addition, junior Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) ended the event tied for 32nd.

The Bucs will now enjoy a break from competition over the winter months, and will return for the beginning of their spring schedule Feb. 17 at the Jim West Challenge in Blanco, Texas. For more on ETSU women’s golf throughout the season, visit and click on the women’s golf link.
