Baseball releases Blue/Gold World Series rosters

Thursday, October 11, 2012

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2012) – On the eve of the Blue/Gold World Series, ETSU head baseball coach Tony Skole and his staff announced the rosters for this weekend’s three-game series.

Game one of the series begins Friday night at 6 p.m., while the weekend games are slated for 11 a.m. Saturday and noon Sunday from Thomas Stadium.

On Friday night, a pair of left-handed pitchers will take the hill for their respective teams. Sophomore transfer Jared Burton (Knoxville, Tenn.) will start for the Blue team, while freshman Josh Jacques (Rollinsford, N.H.) opens up for Gold. Saturday features a pair of veterans on the mound, as senior right-hander Kerry Doane (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) makes the start for Blue and junior lefty Clinton Freeman (Jonesborough, Tenn.) goes for Gold. The finale on Sunday will highlight a pair of freshmen on the bump as left-hander Kevin Marnon (Shelby Township, Mich.) gets the ball for the Blue team and right-handed hurler Griffin Krieg (Nashville, Tenn.) starts for Gold.

Friday’s relievers for Blue include freshman lefty Timmy Farrell (Okeechobee, Fla.) and fellow freshman right-hander Kameron Miller (Crestview, Fla.). Meanwhile, freshman local product Peyton Taylor (Kingsport, Tenn.) and junior Knoxville native Will Chesney will see some action for Gold. On Saturday, junior right-hander Logan Rice (Erwin Tenn.) will relieve Doane, while sophomore righty Jimmy Nesselt (Plantation, Fla.) will pitch in relief for Gold. Farrell and Miller make their second relief appearances on the weekend for Blue on Sunday, and Chesney and freshman left-hander Sam Eichler (Mission Viejo, Calif.) are scheduled to come out of the bullpen for the Gold team.

All three games are open to the public and are free of admission.
