Sunday, October 07, 2012
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Oct. 7, 2012) – ETSU women’s tennis senior Antonia Kolovou (Larisa, Greece) competed in the top flight’s singles final on Sunday at the Wake Forest Invitational, but was outlasted in a third-set tiebreak by UNC Greensboro’s Nitooli Willkins, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4).
Kolovou was the lone Buccaneer in action on Sunday, as Lyn Yee Choo (Kuching, Malaysia) and Anna Gerbasi (Mexico City, Mexico) left their Flight B back draw final against one another uncontested. ETSU’s four competitors went 8-5 in singles action through the three-day tournament.
“Antonia had a great tournament,” ETSU assistant coach Travis Sandlant said. “She was serving for the match, but, unfortunately, could not close it out. It’s essential to take opportunities.”
