Junior scored four goals and registered 10 points over the weekend

MACON, Ga. (Sept. 10, 2012) – Junior Ramey Kerns (Kings Mountain, N.C.) earned her second Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors of the season on Monday after scoring four goals and totaling 10 points through ETSU’s pair of weekend victories.

When the NCAA releases its first official statistics of the 2012 season on Monday, Kerns will be among the nation’s leading goal scorers, having totaled nine goals through seven games.

The junior’s most notable performance of the weekend came on Friday, as she became the ninth different Lady Buccaneer in program history to record a hat trick. ETSU has posted 10 hat-tricks since its inaugural 1997 season, with Lisa Gallagher the only to record two.

On Sunday against Winthrop, Kerns ignited an ETSU comeback by scoring a goal with the Lady Bucs trailing, 2-0, at the time. ETSU went on to score three more goals to defeat the Eagles, 4-2, with Kerns assisting both of freshman Sarah Zadrail’s (St. Gilgen, Austria) scores.

The conference’s player of the week recognition is the third of Kerns’ career and her second this season. She was also honored the week of Aug. 27, and the final week of the 2011 season.

Kerns and the Lady Bucs will hit the road for a meeting with Longwood on Friday at 2 p.m.
