Saturday, September 08, 2012 WILMINGTON, N.C. (Sept. 8, 2012) – The doubles duo of senior Antonia Kolovou (Larisa, Greece) and junior Larn McShane (Hobart Tasmania, Australia) took home the ETSU women’s tennis team’s first title of the fall season, while freshman Anna Gerbasi (Caracas, Venezuela) won two singles matches to earn a finals spot and highlight day two of the UNCW-Landfall Invitational. Kolovou and McShane won the doubles B flight, defeating UNCW’s Ritchie and Kharkevitch, 8-4, in Saturday’s championship match. Gerbasi battled through the singles C flight, taking down CSU’s Nour, 7-5, 6-1, in the first round, and then West Virginia’s Mathis by the same score in the semifinals. "I thought the team gave a very pleasing effort today," ETSU assistant coach Travis Sandlant said. "I'm especially happy for Larn and Anontia to get their first tournament win as a team. We saw mixed results in singles, but it was a great day for Anna to stay mentally tough and make it to Sunday's final. We just need to adapt our game to our opponents, and recognize when our own style is not working." Gerbasi will take on the winner between WVU’s Barrett and CSU’s Das in Sunday’s final.
