Men’s soccer puts 2012 season in motion
Wednesday, August 08, 2012
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 8, 2012) – The ETSU men’s soccer team unlocked the gates to Summers-Taylor Stadium and hit the practice field on Wednesday evening to begin the 2012 season.
Fifth year head coach Scott Calabrese will lead a group of six freshmen, four sophomores, nine juniors and seven seniors on a quest to what the Buccaneers hope will be a second Atlantic Sun title in the past three years. After the way to 2011 season ended – falling in the final minutes of the A-Sun Championship game, 1-0, to Florida Gulf Coast – Calabrese, his staff and the squad were very anxious to get the 2012 season rolling.
“It’s finally here,” said Calabrese following the team’s first training session. “The preseason has arrived. The team is in, meetings are over and now we’re at the good part, which is getting ready for the season.
“I thought we had a very good session. These guys are coming in with the right attitude, the right mentality and are willing to work hard.”
ETSU begins preseason matches next Tuesday, when it hosts Milligan at 7 p.m. The College of Charleston arrives for a final exhibition the following Saturday, before the Bucs open the regular season Friday, August 24, on the road at Appalachian State.
