JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (May 3, 2012) – Following a home victory against No. 28 Appalachian State on Wednesday, the ETSU baseball team returns to conference play for a three-game set at Jacksonville this weekend.

First pitch on both Friday and Saturday will be at 6:30 p.m. while Sunday’s series finale will be a 1:00 p.m. first pitch. Each game can be heard live on 640-WXSM and online at ETSUBucs.com.

ETSU sophomore right-hander Jake Long (Anderson, S.C.) (2-6, 4.39 ERA) will get the start on Friday night and will face Jacksonville righty Chris Anderson (4-3, 4.41 ERA).

Senior righty John Long (Anderson, S.C.) (5-5, 4.29 ERA) will earn the start in Saturday’s contest and will oppose JU right-hander Drew Woods (0-2, 4.81 ERA).

Sunday’s finale will pit ETSU righty Kerry Doane (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) (4-3, 4.19 ERA) against Jacksonville righty Alex McRae (3-6, 2.90 ERA).

After dropping three games to No. 11 Arizona over the weekend, the Bucs got back to their winning ways with a 7-4 victory over nationally ranked Appalachian State on Wednesday night.

The new NCAA statistics were released on Monday and ETSU senior outfielder Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.) continues to lead the nation in home runs with 17. Meanwhile, fellow senior Dylan Pratt (Johnson City, Tenn.) is just two home runs behind with 15.

Meanwhile, sophomore Clinton Freeman (Jonesborough, Tenn.) continues his tear as he has 12 hits in his last four games. Freeman has reached base in 38 straight games. He leads the squad with a .375 average, while his 66 hits and 44 RBIs also lead the team. Freeman also has 12 doubles, three triples and six homers.

Jacksonville comes into the weekend with a 14-32 overall record and a 4-14 league mark. The Dolphins are hitting just .260 as a team, while they have also struggled on the mound with a league worst 4.69 team ERA. Preseason Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Adam Brett Walker leads the squad with a .331 average to go along with eight homers and 35 RBIs, which are also tops on the team. Walker is the only member of the team hitting above .300 on the season.

Jacksonville leads the all-time series against ETSU, 12-7. The Dolphins took the series from the Bucs last season in Johnson City; however, ETSU has won five of the last six games against the Dolphins in Jacksonville.
