JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 22, 2012) – ETSU women’s soccer head coach Adam Sayers announced his seventh signee of the 2012-13 recruiting class, as midfielder Alexa Passingham (Leicestershire, England) signed her National Letter of Intent to play for the defending regular season champion Lady Bucs.

“Alexa [Passingham] will be a great addition to our team,” remarked Sayers. “Having been at Arsenal’s academy for the past two years, she has received an excellent education in the game and been in a very good environment.”

Passingham has spent the last two seasons with the Arsenal Ladies FC Academy, training with the Arsenal Ladies first team while being invited to the 2012 preseason tour in Scotland. During the current season, Passingham has helped the squad to the 2011-12 FA Women’s Premier Reserve League Cup Final. During the 2010-11 season, Passingham was part of the Arsenal Ladies FC team that won the Hertfordshire County Cup and London Women’s Cup, while also finishing runner-up in the Academy and FA Women’s Premier Reserve League, and being finalists in the Academy Cup.

Before joining the Arsenal Ladies, Passingham spent 2008-10 at the Aston Villa Girls Centre of Excellence, where she signed for the Aston Villa Ladies FC squad. In her time with Aston Villa Ladies FC, Passingham was nominated to attend a regional training session for England and represented Leicestershire County U16 for two seasons, winning the ESFA (English Schools’ Football Association) National Inter-County Cup in 2009-10.

The English midfielder also developed her skills at the Leicester City Women’s Centre of Excellence from 2007-08, and spent the four years prior with Rushden & Diamonds Girls Centre of Excellence.

“Alexa [Passingham] has a good understanding of the game tactically,” Sayers added. “She possesses a varied range of passing with accuracy and consistency, and is strong in the air. I’m very happy that she will be joining us.”
