Wednesday, February 01, 2012 ATLANTA (Feb. 1, 2012) – After a tough opening weekend in Lexington, Ky., the No. 58 ETSU men’s tennis team continues its stretch of five-consecutive ranked opponents to start the season, as it travels the Peachtree Tennis Center in Atlanta to take on No. 69 Georgia State on Thursday at 1 p.m. ETSU (0-2) opened its season as part of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, playing for a spot in the Round of 16 at the 2012 National Team Indoor Championships. The Bucs stumbled in their Friday match, falling 4-1 to No. 22 Tulsa, and found no luck in Saturday’s consolation with a 4-0 defeat at the hands of No. 57 NC State. Sophomore Jeremy Bonnevalle (Keerbergen. Belgium) walked away with ETSU’s only victory of the weekend, defeating Tulsa’s Lucian Gheorghe 6-2, 6-4 in Friday’s opener. The Bucs have now started 0-2 in each of the last three seasons, but have gone on to win the Atlantic Sun Tournament at the conclusion of each year. Georgia State (3-1) began its season nearly two weeks ago, defeating both Lipscomb and Old Dominion by a score of 6-1. Last weekend, the Panthers traveled to Columbia S.C. and defeated Elon 6-1, but were handed their first loss of the season on Sunday with a 6-1 defeat to South Carolina.
