This week in ETSU Athletics: September 19-25

This week: The Bucs (6-8) welcome USC Upstate (3-8) to Brooks Gym for their home and conference opener on Tuesday at 7 p.m.  

Last week: ETSU dropped three matches at the JMU Coca-Cola Classic over the weekend. The Bucs were defeated by James Madison, Appalachian State and Georgetown in the tournament.

Promotion: Tuesday night’s match against USC Upstate is “Back in Blue at Brooks night” – Wear ETSU apparel and get in for a Buc ($1).

Men’s Soccer
This week: ETSU (5-1) has a busy week with three contests, beginning at home on Tuesday night against ACC foe Virginia Tech (3-3) at 7 p.m.  The Bucs will also travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on Winthrop (3-4) on Friday at 7 p.m. before concluding the week back at home against Furman (6-1-1) at 4 p.m. inside Summers-Taylor Stadium.

Last week: The Bucs defeated Davidson, 3-2, at home on Saturday night in their only match of the week.

Promotion: Tuesday night’s match is “Greek Cook-off night” – Fraternities and sororities come together with their best recipes to be judged by ETSU coaches. ETSU will celebrate “Family Weekend” in the match against Furman on Sunday.

Women’s Soccer
This week: ETSU (4-3) returns home to open conference play against USC Upstate (1-7-1) on Friday night at 7 p.m. inside Summers-Taylor Stadium. The Lady Bucs will also welcome in UNC Asheville (1-7) for a non-conference match on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Last week: The Lady Bucs fell in double overtime on Saturday night at Winthrop, 2-1.

Promotion: Friday’s match against USC Upstate will celebrate Youth Soccer Month – Kids 12 and under get in for free. Sunday’s match is Father/Daughter Day – Buy one get one free admission.

Women’s Golf
This week: The ETSU women’s golf team will open its season at the Wild Eggs Cardinal Cup hosted by the University of Louisville on Monday and Tuesday. The 54-hole tournament will consist of 36-holes on Monday and 18-holes on Tuesday.

Men’s Tennis

This week: After opening the fall season over the weekend at the UT Fall Invitational, the ETSU men’s tennis team continues tournament play on Friday as the Bucs will compete at the UVA Ranked +1 and the Southern Collegiate.

Last week: Newcomer Rogerio Ribeiro advanced to the finals of the White Singles Main Draw at the UT Fall Invitational, while Robin Akser advanced to the semifinals of the White Singles Main Draw and Jeremy Bonnevalle advanced to the quarterfinals of the Orange Singles Main Draw.

This week: The ETSU softball team will kick off its fall season on Thursday at home against Milligan. The doubleheader will begin at 5 p.m.
