JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 8, 2011) - For the second straight year senior first baseman Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) was named the Atlantic Sun Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced the Atlantic Sun conference office on Wednesday.

"This is another great honor for Paul," said ETSU baseball head coach Tony Skole. "It really puts an exclamation point on his storied career here at ETSU. There are so many things that we are going to miss with Paul's departure to professiona baseball, but I think we will miss most the consistency at which he approached every single day on our campus. Honestly I don't ever recall him having a bad day. He always brought his best effort every single day on the field and in the classroom. This consistent tenacity is what made him so successful."

Hoilman is the fourth student-athlete to earn the award in back-to-back years as he has amassed several records during his four year career including the A-Sun career marks for home runs (73) and doubles (83) and total bases (615). In 2011, he topped the conference charts in slugging percentage (.724) and homers (22), while helping the Bucs to a Division I program high of 36 wins.

"Paul epitomizes the definition of a student-athlete and he is definitely deserving of this prestigious honor for a second straight year," said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins. "We have been fortunate to have Paul as a part of our athletic department the last four years, and it has been a pleasure to watch him perform as an All-American on the field, an honor student in the classroom, and a selfless volunteer in the community. Everyone in the Buccaneer family wish him the best as he moves on into his professional career."

A two-time First Team All-Atlantic Sun selection, Hoilman garnered several accolades in 2011, including being named a Lowe's Senior Class Award Finalist, Golden Spikes Award Watch List member and Louisville Slugger Preseason First Team All-American. He finishes his career with the school record for home runs, doubles, RBI, runs scored, walks, total bases and hits.
The senior was the active NCAA career home run, RBI and total bases leader and became the first Buccaneer to reach the 300-hit plateau.

A mathematics major, Hoilman graduated from ETSU with a 3.95 overall GPA. Hoilman was named a First-Team Academic All-American in both 2010 and 2011 and was a four-time A-Sun All-Academic selection.
