Come out and enjoy "Dollar Night" on Monday
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 13, 2011) - Seniors Tara Davis (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Latisha Belcher (Martinsville, Va.) will play their final home game Monday night when the Lady Bucs host Jacksonville inside the MSHA Athletic Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
The Lady Bucs - who have won seven straight and 19 of their last 21 home games - bring a record of 15-10, 12-4 into Monday's matchup with the Dolphins. A win against Jacksonville would guarantee ETSU a program-best sixth straight winning season.
ETSU is coming off a 74-52 victory over North Florida on Saturday as junior guard Natalie Pickwell (Kingsport, Tenn.) netted a career-high 24 points and Belcher recorded her ninth career double-double - finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Blue and Gold out-rebounded the Ospreys 49 to 45 and scored 17 points off 17 UNF turnovers.
Belcher and Davis have meant a lot to the Lady Buccaneer program as they have totaled 2,116 points, 1,054 rebounds, 541 assists, 454 steals, as well as making three consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament. The dominate duo have also excelled in the classroom as they both were selected to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team. Belcher - who has already graduated last spring - has played in 118 games (78 starts) and has recorded 1,055 points, 725 rebounds and 241 steals in a Lady Buccaneer uniform. Meanwhile, Davis has been the spark behind ETSU's championship run over the last three years, as she has posted 1,061 points, 421 assists, 329 rebounds and 213 steals in 119 games (88 starts). The nursing major is also the third player in ETSU history to record 1,000 points and 400 assists for a career.
Jacksonville is coming off a 72-68 loss at USC Upstate Saturday evening and enters play with a mark of 11-13, 6-9.
The Dolphins - who have four players averaging double figures in scoring - are led by senior forward Taneskei Richardson's 10.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per contest. As a team, Jacksonville is posting 65.7 points, while allowing its opponents to record 67.5 points per outing.
The Lady Bucs lead the all-time series, 12-1, and have won nine straight in the series. ETSU used strong free throw shooting to defeat JU last month in Jacksonville, 69-62. The Lady Bucs went 25-of-30 at the free throw line - including Davis going 16-for-18 at the charity stripe inside Veterans Memorial Arena. The Blue and Gold have won all four meetings in the Dome, but ten of the 12 all-time meetings have been decided by nine points or less.
Monday is also "Dollar Night" so fans who bring two canned food items to the Dome receive $1 admission; while everything in the concession booths are only $1 as well. One lucky student will also win a Playstation3 and a $100 gift certificate to be used at the ETSU Bookstore.
Fans unable to make the trip to the Dome can listen to all the action on WXSM-AM 640 as Voice of the Lady Bucs John Stevens will carry the play-by-play. Monday's game will also be broadcast live on A-Sun.TV and live stats will be provided on Gametracker.
