Tuesday, January 04, 2011

MACON, Ga. (Jan. 4, 2011) - After dropping two of its first three games on this five-game road swing, the ETSU women's basketball team will look to close things out on a positive note when the Lady Bucs tangle with Kennesaw State Wednesday evening. Tip time is slated for 5 p.m. inside the KSU Convocation Center.

ETSU (5-7, 2-1 A-Sun) is coming off an 83-68 victory over Mercer Monday night. Tara Davis (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) and Natalie Pickwell (Kingsport, Tenn.) totaled 76 percent of the Lady Bucs' offense as Davis led the way with a team-high 23 points. Meanwhile, Mitchell recorded her second straight double-double (fourth career) after finishing with 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Pickwell netted 18. As a team, the Lady Bucs out-rebounded the Bears 57 to 25, while pulling down 26 on the offensive end. Joining Mitchell with double figure rebounds was red-shirt senior Latisha Belcher (Martinsville, Va.) as she recorded seven points and 11 boards.

Kennesaw State (3-8, 0-3 A-Sun) suffered a 75-67 loss against USC Upstate on Monday night. The Owls were led by junior guard Angie Smith's 18 points, while fellow junior Tamasha Bolden added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kennesaw State finished with 22 steals and made USC Upstate turn the ball over 34 times; however, the Owls only scored 20 points off those miscues.

Overall, ETSU has won all nine games in this series, including an 81-63 victory in the last meeting back on Feb. 13, 2010 in Johnson City.

Fans unable to make the trip to Kennesaw can listen to all the action live on WXSM-AM 640 The Sports Monster as Voice of the Bucs Jay Sandos will carry the play-by-play. Also, live video streaming will be available on A-Sun.TV, while live stats will be displayed on KSUOwls.com.
