JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 20, 2010) - ETSU senior first baseman Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) added to the list of preseason honors on Monday as he was named a First Team All-American by both Collegiate Baseball and College Baseball Lineup, and was also tabbed the 61st best collegiate player by College Baseball Daily.
"This is another great honor for Paul," said head coach Tony Skole. "To be honored on a national stage like this speaks volumes to what he has accomplished."
Hoilman, who led the Atlantic Sun hitting .421 in 2010, became the only the second Buccaneer to be named a Louisville Slugger Preseason First Team All-American joining Caleb Moore who was selected in 2005. The local product is also the first ETSU player to earn back-to-back preseason All-American honors.
The 2010 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, Hoilman makes his second straight appearance on the College Baseball Lineup (formerly Ping!Baseball) Preseason All-American Team after being named to the second team in 2010. Hoilman was also featured in the College Baseball Daily top 100 as the 61st ranked player in Division I after breaking the ETSU single season records for home runs (25) and RBI (84) in 2010.
"This winter, Paul has taken his work ethic to another level and I know he is excited for the season to arrive," Skole added. "We are very fortunate to have him back for his senior season."
ETSU opens the 2011 season at home on Feb. 18 at 3:05 p.m. as the Bucs play host to the Marist Red Foxes in a three-game series.
