ETSU, Second Harvest Food Bank team up for special $1 ticket incentive

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 19, 2010) - After having an 11-day break between games, the ETSU women's basketball team returns to action Monday night when the Lady Bucs host Campbell inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m.

The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Lady Buccaneer basketball team have joined arms with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee this holiday season to help feed the needy by collecting canned food items at selected home basketball games. Monday is "Can the Camels" night, so fans who bring at least two canned food items to the game receive a special $1 admission.

ETSU is returning to the court for the first time since falling to No. 12 North Carolina back on Dec. 8. Junior guard Natalie Pickwell (Kingsport, Tenn.) scored a career-high 21 points on 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc in Chapel Hill, while freshman standout Destiny Mitchell (Bluffton, Ga.) tallied ten points, six rebounds and three steals versus the Tar Heels.

As a team the Lady Bucs look to end a five-game losing skid as ETSU enters Monday's game with a record of 2-5, 0-1 in the A-Sun. Taking on the Camels could be what ETSU needs to get back into the win column since the Lady Bucs are a perfect 10-0 lifetime against Campbell.

Campbell, who was tied for fifth in the preseason coaches poll, has lost eight of its first nine games this season - including an 85-71 setback at USC Upstate on Thursday night. The Camels' lone win was a 67-61 victory over UNC Central last week.

Sophomore preseason all-conference selection Tonisha Baker leads the team in scoring at 10.1 points per game, while junior guard Katie Cloxton is coming off a 21-point effort at Upstate.

Fans unable to make the trip to Johnson City can listen to all the action as "Voice of the Lady Bucs" John Stevens will carry the play-by-play live on WXSM-AM 640 The Sports Monster. The game will also be broadcast live on ASun.TV, while live stats will be provided courtesy of Gametracker.
