ETSU, Second Harvest Food Bank team up for special $1 ticket incentive
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 16, 2010) - The East Tennessee State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Lady Buccaneer basketball team have joined arms with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee this holiday season to help feed the needy by collecting canned food items at selected home basketball games.
The next canned food drive is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 20 when the Lady Bucs square off against Campbell, and fans who bring at least two canned food items to the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center receive $1 admission in conjunction with the "Can the Camels" promotion. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
The Lady Bucs have all ready sent over 650 pounds of food to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee, which was collected back on Nov. 19 when ETSU faced Appalachian State. The generous donation helped enable the Food Bank to distribute 499 meals to 200 partner agencies such as the Mobile Food Bank and Mobile Food Pantry, Food for Kids, and Summer Food Service Program.
"We are very excited to help the Second Harvest Food Bank, and we hope the special $1 ticket promotion is something our fans really take advantage of Monday night," said Sara Hacker, Assistant Director of Marketing, Promotions and Event Management. "Not only will families be treated to an affordable evening of fun and basketball, but they are donating to a great cause during the holiday season. We had a strong turnout last month with the canned food drive against Appalachian State, but we are hoping surpass those totals and help more families in need."
Monday's game is the only time fans can see the Lady Bucs in action at home until Saturday, Jan. 8 when ETSU takes on Florida Gulf Coast.
To purchase your tickets, call the ETSU ticket office at (423) 439-3878.
