Tuesday, November 02, 2010
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 1, 2010) - The ETSU men's soccer team is set to close out the regular season Tuesday at 7 p.m. as the Bucs head to Boone, N.C. to face Appalachian State.
The Bucs (12-5-0, 7-2-0 A-Sun) will look to bounce back after suffering a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss to the fourth ranked North Carolina Tar Heels last weekend. Junior Aaron Schoenfeld (Knoxville, Tenn.) netted his sixth goal of the season in the contest to send the game to overtime, but UNC's Enzo Martinez added a golden goal for the Tar Heels less than four minutes in the overtime period to come away with the win.
ETSU is 0-1-0 all-time against the Mountaineers. The two teams met in the program's first match back in 2008.
Appalachian State (7-6-3, 4-2-1 SoCon) has gone 2-2-1 in its last five matches after earning a 2-2 draw against regionally ranked College of Charleston. The Mountaineers are led by Sean Dreybus as he has posted four goals, three assists and 11 points on the year.
The Buccaneers also moved up one spot in the NSCAA/HendricksCars.com Regional Rankings as ETSU is now sixth in the South Region. Also moving up in the poll was fellow A-Sun member FGCU as they moved to the No.4 spot, while Appalachian State comes in at No.10.
