Senior ties for 11th on individual leaderboard at Palmetto Intercollegiate

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 26, 2010) - Senior Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) fired a final round score of 4-over-par 75 to finish tied for 11th on the individual leaderboard, pacing the ETSU women's golf team to a ninth-place showing during third round action Tuesday at the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by College of Charleston at the Oak Point Golf Club.

While Muehl played well, the Buccaneers struggled as a whole and dropped from a tie for fifth after the second round to their ninth place finish at 908 (294-298-316). Fellow Atlantic Sun Conference rival Kennesaw State won the event with a team score or 875, besting Coastal Carolina by five strokes.

Individually, Charleston's Leigh Whittaker enjoyed the home course advantage to easily capture the tournament title by nine strokes over second place finisher Courtney Boe of Coastal Carolina. Whitaker finished the event at 205, while Muehl was 16 strokes off that pace at 221.

Other ETSU results included a tie for 28th by both freshman Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) and junior Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain).

The Bucs will return to action in their final tournament of the fall on Friday, when they begin play in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University in Greenville, S.C. For more on ETSU women's golf, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the women's golf link.
