Men's golf in 10th after two rounds of Rod Myers Invitational

, N.C. (Oct. 9, 2010) - ETSU senior Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) fired rounds of 76 (+4) and 69 (-3) to lead the ETSU men's golf team on day one of the Rod Myers Invitational, at Duke University Golf Club on Sunday.
 
O'Kane finished round two with six birdies and three bogeys on the par-72, 7,136-yard Duke University Golf Club layout. He currently sits tied for 23rd at 1-over, with 18-holes left to play tomorrow.
 
The Bucs are in 10th place in the team standings after two rounds of play. They followed up an opening round 296 with a solid 3-over 291 in round two.
 
Iowa holds the tournament lead at 13-under (563) with N.C. State seven shots back. Charlotte is third after shooting rounds of 285 and 287 (-4) with Michigan (-1) and UNC Greensboro (+1) rounding out the top 5.
 
Middle Tennessee State and Tulsa are tied at sixth at three-over (579) followed by Duke, Minnesota (+6), ETSU (+11), Rice (+22) and Virginia Commonwealth (+25).
 
Arie Fauzi (Tulsa) and Michael Whitehead (Rice) are tied for the 36-hole lead at five-under 139. N.C. State's Albin Choi and Iowa's Brad Hopfinger are tied for third at four-under, while Colin Chapman (UNCG), Lion Kim (Michigan), Robert Hoadley (UNC Greensboro) and Julian Suri (Duke) are tied for fifth.
 
ETSU junior Devin Komline (Dorset, Vermont) is tied for 31st as he stands at 2-over (73-73146) after back to back rounds of 73. Komline recorded a combined seven birdies during the two rounds.
 
Freshman Spencer Lawson (Raleigh, N.C.) continues to be consistent in his first season with the Bucs as he is tied for 39th at 4-over (73-75148).
 
Sophomore Patrick Spraggs (Rochford, England) is making his first appearance in the Bucs' starting lineup as he sits tied for 41st at 5-over (75-74149). Spraggs had eight birdies on the day but was hurt by four double-bogeys.
 
Peter Wilson (Locust Valley, N.Y.) also competed in the event for the Bucs as he is currently tied for 50th at 7-over (75-76151).
 
Final round play begins on Monday at 8am with tee times off No. 1 and No. 10. Hole-by-hole scoring is available at www.goduke.com/rmi and www.golfstat.com.

The Duke University Golf Club, opened in 1957 and ranked among the top on-campus facilities in the NCAA, will play as a 7,136 yard, par 72 for the event. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones and redesigned by Jones' son, Rees, in 1994. The Duke University Golf Club, considered one of the top 10 courses in North Carolina, was the host site of the 1962 and 2001 NCAA Championships.
