GREENSBORO, N.C.
(Sept. 26, 2010) - Led by the play of three newcomers, the ETSU women's golf team finished tied for fourth during first round action Sunday in the UNCG Starmount Forest Fall Classic at the Bryan Park Golf Club's Players Course.

Junior college transfer Lauren Smith (Cramlington, England) led the way for the Buccaneers with a 4-over-par 76 to finish 16th on the individual leaderboard. Meanwhile, true freshmen Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) and Larissa Steinfeldt (Eschweiler, Germany) both finished tied for 17th at 5-over 77.

As a team, the Bucs are just six strokes off the pace of first place North Carolina State, which finished at 302 on the day. Individually, Stetson's Alex Buelow leads the tournament at 2-under 70 after the first day of action.

Along with their trio of newcomers, the Bucs got solid efforts from senior Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) and junior Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain). Muehl finished tied for 32nd with a 78, while Vizcarrondo is currently tied for 38th.
