Varon, who was making his first appearance in a collegiate tournament, defeated Camill Salomon of VCU, 6-4, 6-4 in the finals to earn the title. Varon won four straight matches on the weekend to gain the championship.

Varon will take on Chris Mengel of Duke in the opening round of Section B singles on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela) also had a successful final day in Charlottesville as he earned fifth place in the white singles bracket. Bandres knocked off Gilbert Wong of Binghamton in the fifth place match, 6-2, 6-3. Bandres will take on Cale Hammond of Duke in the opening round of Section B singles and will team up with Varon for doubles action Friday morning in Section B doubles.
