It’s been a very eventful past two weeks for the ETSU women’s soccer team.  Last week was the final week of summer. Even though we have been playing soccer since Aug. 5th it was our last week of just soccer and no class. We ended the summer with a cookout at my house. We all met at the dome and car pooled to Kingsport. Once we got there we had hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, fruit, and desserts. After we ate we had a bunch of different games going on. Megan Masch brought her corn hole game so that meant a tournament was bound to happen. Masch, Jen Altimier and Rachel Van Horn took the responsibility in teaching Hannah and Lucy Goffe how to play, since England doesn’t have corn hole. Also going on inside the house was some intense games of Ping pong… I think Caitlin Gaughan and I were by far the best partners even if Lindsay Bickel and Courtney Deem won every game. We were definitely better than Morgan Jutras and Alex Meehan. After those games came to an end we got together and played football. That lasted for awhile until it was time to get the fire started and roast marshmallows and make smores. They were so good… even if Jen got most of hers in my hair. This get together was a great way for us to have fun and bond as a team away from the soccer field.

Friday came before we knew it, and it was GAME DAY. It was time to go on the road to Gardner-Webb. It was our second regular season game, and we were pumped. One of our goals this season is to stay undefeated in non-conference play. So that’s exactly what we are playing for. We got to Gardner-Webb a little early so we were able to hang out and just chill before we had to get mentally ready to play. The game didn’t last 90 minutes… this game lasted 110 minutes because it went into double overtime. The final score came out to be a tie, but in our eyes we won. We had reached our goal yet again. We did not give up a goal and we played hard until the end.

Well the next thing we knew it was Monday, and not only was it Monday but it was the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Also, to go along with the first day of school, it was our first regular season home game. With school starting, this meant we would probably have some students come out and support us. So we all went to class then met up for our pre-game meal. Then it was time to go to the locker room to get ready for the game, ETSU vs. Tennessee Wesleyan. Again we were able to reach our goal with a 4-0 win over the bulldogs.  We won our first regular season home game in front of amazing home crowd. It was a great feeling to have all the support from the students who came out. Our next game is Thursday Sep. 2nd at 7:00 p.m. We will be playing under the new lights that have just been installed on our field, and we all looking forward to this game. So come out and support the BUCS!!!!

Until next time,
Tori Head #11
