JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2008) - With a rich history of highlighting some of the nation's best collegiate golf, ETSU will host the 12th annual Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges, Oct. 16-18.

The resume of former competitors in the BOT Intercollegiate at the Ridges includes PGA and European Tour winners such as Lucas Glover (Clemson), David Gossett (Texas), Anthony Kim (Oklahoma), Luke Donald (Northwestern), Jonathan Byrd (Clemson), Camillo Villegas (Florida), D.J. Trahan (Clemson), Matt Kuchar (Georgia Tech), Carl Pettersson (N.C. State) and Graeme McDowell (UAB). This year, 15 of the nation's top teams will descend on The Ridges for the three-day, three-round event Oct. 16-18, with a practice round scheduled for Oct. 15.

"There's no doubt this tournament has become one of the top events in college golf," said ETSU head coach Fred Warren, who watched former ETSU standout Rhys Davies capture back-to-back individual titles in the event during 2005 and 2006. "Winning this event is always considered a big step toward having a great season."

The field for this year's event will include 10 teams currently ranked in the nation's Top 50 by Golfweek/Sagarin. This group features No. 2 Tennessee, No. 8 Oregon State, No. 12 North Carolina State, and No. 25 Auburn.

Individually, eight players in the field currently rank in the Top 50 nationally, with Auburn's Kyle Kopsick and Tennessee's Darren Renwick ranked 10th and 12th, respectively. Other ranked players in the field include No. 16 Robin Wingardh of Tennessee, No. 24 Brendan Gielow of Wake Forest, and No. 25 David Holmes of Tennessee.

Coastal Carolina returns to the event as the defending champions, having held off ETSU by just one stroke in last year's tournament. The host Buccaneers have finished second for the last three years, and have finished just one stroke out of first in two of those three events.

Live scoring for the tournament will be available at Golfstat.com or by visiting ETSUBucs.com and clicking on the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges Logo.
