DES MOINES, Iowa (June 25, 2010) - Competing in his first-ever USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, freshman Jason Johnson (Springfield, Pa.) posted a personal best performance Friday afternoon at Drake Stadium, located in Des Moines, Iowa.

Johnson, who was competing in the junior championship division, placed ninth overall with a mark of 47-09.75 (14.57m). The Buccaneer rookie topped his previous best by over eight inches, which was a leap of 47-01.25, set at last month's Atlantic Sun Championships.

Johnson will now cheer on fellow teammate Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) as he is set to compete in the 200m event Saturday evening at 5:05 p.m.
