Lady Bucs look to bounce back Saturday at Stetson

Friday, February 05, 2010

DELAND, Fla. (Feb. 5, 2010) - Coming off its most lopsided loss since joining the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2005-06, the ETSU women's basketball team looks to bounce back into the win column when the Lady Bucs face Stetson on Saturday afternoon. Tip is set for 3 p.m. inside the Edmunds Center.

ETSU (13-8, 11-2 in A-Sun) had its program-best nine-game winning streak snapped with its 92-55 loss at Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday night inside Alico Arena. With the loss, the Lady Bucs sit a game and a half back from the Eagles for first-place in the conference standings and now need some help from within the league in order to win at least a share of the A-Sun regular season crown.

The Lady Bucs allowed FGCU to shoot a program-best 63 percent from the floor, including 71 percent in a first half that saw the Eagles outscore the Lady Bucs 54-27. Senior Siarre Evans (Griffin, Ga.) recorded her 13th double-double of the season (12pts/12rebs); while TaRonda Wiles (Danville, Va.) scored a team-high 14 points.

Stetson is coming off a 70-61 loss against Campbell on Thursday night in DeLand. Ashli Jackson scored a team-high 18 points, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc; however, the Hatters couldn't overcome 22 turnovers and being out-rebounded 42 to 31.

The Hatters were picked seventh by the coaches and sixth in the media poll, and Stetson currently sits 5-18, 5-9 on the season. Stetson has lost six of its last eight games; however, the Hatters have been without the services of three of their top four scorers over the last two games.

Fans unable to make the trip to DeLand can listen to all the action live, as "Voice of the Bucs" Jay Sandos will handle the play-by-play duties. Fans in Johnson City should tune into WKPT-AM (1590), WOPI-AM (1490) in Bristol, WKPT-AM (1400) in Kingsport. In addition, 94.3-FM in Kingsport, 97.9-FM in Bristol, and 97.7-FM in Johnson City will carry the game. Live video streaming is also available through ASun.TV and live stats will be offered through www.GoHatters.com.
