MACON, Ga. (Jan. 14, 2010) - The ETSU track and field team came through with strong efforts last weekend at the Clemson Invitational, and on Thursday afternoon the Buccaneers were rewarded in a big way, as the Blue and Gold swept Atlantic Sun Athlete of the Week honors.

Senior sprinter Duronal Monal (Belle Glade, Fla.) and junior Jasmine Ingram (Frederick, Md.) captured the honors in the track events; while a pair of freshmen highlighted the Bucs in the field. Horizontal jumpers Ryan Beaver (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Bethany Lender (Altoona, Pa.) won their first-ever weekly accolade.

Monal picked up right where he left off from a month ago, as the senior sprinter raced to a title in the 60m dash on last Friday night inside the Clemson Indoor Track. The Belle Glade, Fla. native, who was fresh off a first-place title in the 55m dash in Boone, N.C., followed that up with a top finish in the 60m event at Clemson. The business major won the prelims with a time of 6.74 and capped off the finals with a win against Clemson's Warren Fraser, clocking in at 6.77. Monal's time in the prelims marked the sixth fastest time in the country this season.

Meanwhile, Beaver finished with a third-place performance in the triple jump on Friday night at Clemson. The freshman from Virginia Beach, Va. came in behind Georgia Tech's Alphonso Jordan and South Carolina's Marcus Stephens with a leap of 47-0.25 (14.33m). The business major also finished fifth in the long jump (21-09.00).

Ingram, a junior criminal justice major, captured the weekly honor for the second straight time this season after turning in a fourth-place finish in the 300-meter run last Saturday afternoon. The Frederick, Md. native returned from a first-place title in the 800-meter run at Boone, N.C. last month and ended with a time of 40.77 in the event inside the Clemson Indoor Track facility.

On Friday night, Lender turned in her best collegiate and conference performance this season in the triple jump at Clemson. The freshman Altoona, Pa. native went up against a tough field and finished fourth - marking the best leap against any A-Sun competitor this season. The nutrition major posted a mark of 38-09 (11.81m), which is 1-foot, 2-inches farther than Kennesaw State's Suzzette Van-Lare.

The ETSU track and field team is now gearing up for the Virginia Tech Invitational, which will be held this Friday and Saturday in Blacksburg.
