JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 2, 2010) - For the 12th time in its last 13 matches the No. 75 ETSU women's tennis team came away with a win as the Lady Bucs dropped Atlantic Sun Conference rival Jacksonville 5-2 Friday afternoon at the Buddy Hartsell Tennis Center in Johnson City.

With their win the Lady Bucs improved their impressive overall record to 14-3 and now sit with a perfect 8-0 mark in A-Sun play. The Dolphins meanwhile fell to 10-10 overall and 2-7 in league matches.

Also with its victory ETSU sets up a championship showdown Saturday as the Lady Bucs take on No. 60 North Florida, who is also unbeaten in conference competition this spring.

"Jacksonville is always competitive so I'm glad that we came away with the win," said head coach Steve Brooks. "Now the girls just have to get some rest tonight and get ready for a great atmosphere and contest against UNF."

After ETSU took two out of the three doubles matches, freshman Diana Navrosksta (Kviv, Ukraine) extend the Lady Buc advantage to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Virginia Iwinski at No. 5. Junior Andra Voinea (Brasov, Romania) then rallied off a strong 6-1, 6-2 victory over Fernanda Carrero one slot below her teammate at the No. 6 position.

Senior Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) then extended her 10-match winning streak with a quick 6-3, 6-0 victory against Tatiana Soldatova, while sophomore Paula Jaime (Madrid, Spain) pushed her conference record to 8-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 straight set win at No. 3 over JU's Ive Jaresova.

The Dolphins' two wins on the afternoon came from Eve Castaing and Sara Londono who prevailed at the No. 4 and No. 2 positions.

The Lady Bucs close out their home and conference seasons with a 2:30 match Saturday against the Lady Ospreys of North Florida.
