O'Kane 17th, Bucs currently 11th at Hootie

AWENDAW, S.C. (March 28, 2010) - ETSU junior Paul O'Kane (Castledawson, Northern Ireland) fired a 2-over-par 73 to finish tied for 17th on the individual leaderboard, as the 29th-ranked Buccaneers' men's golf team finished 11th on the team leaderboard following first round play Sunday in the Hottie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at the Bulls Bay Golf Club.
The Bucs finished the day with a team score of 17-over 301 and are 13 strokes back of team leader LSU, which finished at 4-over 288. Out of the 15 teams in the event, 12 are ranked 46th or higher by Golfstat.com, including six teams ranked in the Top 30.
Both No. 31 Duke and No. 34 Wake Forest are currently one stroke back of the Tigers in second place.
Individually, N.C. State's Matt Hill leads by one stroke over Travis Wadkins of Wake Forest. Hill finished the day at 3-over 68, while O'Kane is five strokes back of the lead.
Other ETSU results included a 74 from sophomore Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) to finish tied for 23rd, while senior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) is tied for 42nd and junior Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) is tied for 52nd. Second round play in the event will continue on Monday, with third and final round action set for Tuesday.
