Enoch still looking solid at NCAA Championships

Wednesday, June 02, 2010

OOLTEWAH (June 2, 2010) - Despite a rain delay and the eventual darkness that ended his second round a bit prematurely, ETSU junior Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) still enjoyed another solid performance Wednesday in the NCAA Championships at The Honors Course.

While a pair of birdies put him at 2-under 36 on the front nine, Enoch suffered a bogey on the 10th and a double bogey on the 16th before play was suspended. Though he stands at 1-over for the round and the tournament, two holes remain on his card in the second round, including a birdie opportunity on the Par 5 17th.

"I made a double on the last hole so I'm not real pleased right now, but I'm reasonably happy with my play so far," Enoch said. "I still have some opportunities out there for tomorrow morning, so my goal is to learn from my mistakes today and just go out there relaxed tomorrow. I want to play solid golf and be aggressive when I can."

Entering the day 36th on the leaderboard, Enoch - who is ranked 52nd nationally - currently stands tied for 43rd.

ETSU head coach Fred Warren said his junior star has been consistently good throughout the first two days of play.

"He's played really solid," Warren said. "He's hit a lot of good shots; nothing spectacular, but just solid."

The conclusion of second round play and the start of third round action are planned for Thursday, and live scoring is available at Golfstat.com. ETSUBucs.com will provide a wrap up as well at the conclusion of the day's play.
