Davies struggles during third round at U.S. Open

Saturday, June 19, 2010

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 19, 2010) - After a strong performance during Friday's second round at the U.S. Open, former ETSU All American Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) struggled during Saturday's third round, carding an 8-over-par 79 to fall into a tie for 72nd at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Davies' day included just one birdie on the fourth hole, while a double bogey and seven bogeys dropped him from a tie for 50th to his current standing. He presently sits at 14-over-par 227 for the tournament and will attempt to improve on those numbers during Sunday's final round.

It has been a memorable week for Davies, who made the cut for the first time in a major event after participating in the 2007 U.S. Open and the 2009 British Open.
