Thursday, May 13, 2010

EUGENE, Ore. (May 13, 2010) - The ETSU baseball team will make its first-ever trip to the West Coast in the program's history this weekend as the Bucs face No. 22 Oregon at PK Park in Eugene, Ore.

The two teams open the series Friday with the first pitch set for 10 p.m. EST. The Bucs and Ducks are slated for an 8 p.m. EST contest on Saturday before closing out the series on Sunday at 4 p.m. EST

ETSU (29-21, 14-10 A-Sun) is coming off of a mid-week sweep of UNC Asheville on Tuesday winning 13-7 and 11-0. Junior Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) had a career day against the Bulldogs going 5-for-8 with a triple, four home runs and seven RBI. The local native currently leads the country in both home runs (23) and RBI (75) and is second in average (.455).

This is the first between ETSU and Oregon. The Bucs are 0-1 against opponents from the Pac-10 having lost to Washington State in 2006.

Oregon (31-18, 10-11 Pac-10) ended a four-game skid Tuesday as the Ducks defeated San Diego 13-4. Eddie Rodriguez leads the Oregon offense hitting .347 with five home runs and 33 RBI. As a team, the Ducks have the third-best ERA in the country with a 3.00 staff ERA.
