Bartow, Kemp to throw out first pitch Saturday
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 11, 2010) - Coming off of a series win over No. 30 St. John's, the ETSU baseball team will look to keep things rolling as the Bucs host SIU Edwardsville in a three-game series starting Friday at 3 p.m. at Cardinal Park.
ETSU head men's basketball coach Murry Bartow and head women's basketball coach Karen Kemp will be on hand to throw out the first pitch on Saturday as the fans can come out and support the Atlantic Sun Champions. Both teams will also be in attendance at the Saturday game as fans will have an opportunity to meet the back-to-back men's championship team, and the three-peat women's basketball team.
Saturday's game is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch, while the two teams will close out the series at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
ETSU (8-2) has won its last two games defeating the Red Storm 11-7 and 8-6 last weekend after dropping the series opener 10-2. Junior Chas Byrne (Johnson City, Tenn.) is first on the team and eighth in the conference in average (.429), while pre-season All-American Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) leads the team with four home runs and 14 RBI. This is the first meeting against the Cougars for the Buccaneers.
SIU Edwardsville (2-10) is currently on a five-game skid after dropping two mid-week games to Western Carolina earlier this week. The Cougars are led by Adam Eggmeyer as he is hitting .326 with six doubles, one triple, four home runs and ten RBI on the season.
Fans with kids 12 and under who wear their little leagues team jersey to any game this season will receive admission for only $1.
