Bucs to face UNC Asheville in final tune up for conference play

Monday, September 28, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2009) - The ETSU men's soccer team is set to head to UNC Asheville for the final non-conference match of the season as the Bucs take on the Bulldogs at 4 p.m. at Greenwood Field in Asheville, N.C.

The Bucs (1-3-2) had their contest against High Point cancelled Saturday due to inclement weather. ETSU took the second ranked North Carolina Tar Heels to the wire on last Tuesday falling 2-1 in overtime on the road. ETSU is led by sophomores Sean Hoek (Newburgh, Ind.) and Jaron Westbrook (Round Rock, Texas). Hoek leads the team with two goals, while Westbrook has the lone game-winner for the Bucs.

This is the first meeting between the two teams as ETSU is 4-1 all-time against teams from the Big South. The Bucs defeated VMI 2-0 earlier in the year, but dropped a 1-0 decision against Radford.

UNC Asheville (3-5-1) has won two of its last three games defeating Belmont 2-1 and Lipscomb 2-1, while falling to 20th ranked Kentucky on the road 3-1. The Bulldogs are led by sophomore Connor Holzinger as he has a team-best two goals and five points.
