JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 23, 2009) - An Aaron Schoenfeld (Knoxville, Tenn.) goal turned out to be the difference as the ETSU men's soccer team picked up its second conference win defeating North Florida 1-0 at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

"This was a very important win for us tonight," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "This win has ultimately put us in a great position to move us up in the A-Sun standings and qualify for the conference tournament. The guys overcame some difficult conditions tonight as the surface was very hard and difficult to judge."

The Bucs (3-7-3, 2-3-1 A-Sun) outshot UNF (2-10-1, 2-3-1 A-Sun)13-10 in the match and had an 8-5 advantage in corners. Senior Scott Rosman (Kenner, La.) was outstanding defensively with six saves as he picked up his fourth shutout of the season.

"UNF played very well and was quite determined, but we dealt with the physicality of the game and got the three points," Calabrese said. "Now we have to turn our attention to playing Jacksonville and getting three more points on Sunday."

ETSU was held without a shot on goal in the first half as the Bucs outshot the Ospreys 5-4 in the half.

Schoenfeld had a good look early in the second half as UNF defender just knocked away his shot in front of the net. The Bucs poured on the pressure as they forced the Ospreys to make six saves in the second half.

In the 73rd minute Sean Hoek (Newburg, Ind.) and Andrew Brown (Montego Bay, Jamaica) combined to find Schoenfeld wide open in front of the net for his second goal of the season giving the Bucs a 1-0 lead.

A couple minutes later North Florida had its best chance of the night, but Rosman was up to the challenge making a great save to keep the Ospreys from getting the equalizer.

The Bucs are back in action on Sunday at 2 p.m. as they face conference rival Jacksonville. For more information on Buccaneer men's soccer and all other Buccaneer athletic news, please visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
