JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Oct. 25, 2009) - The ETSU men's soccer team fell to Jacksonville 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Ashley Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Fla.

"We started the game strongly and had some chances early on," said head coach Scott Calabrese. "We had a mental lapse in the back that JU capitalized on followed by another goal quickly and then another. Jacksonville gained a lot of confidence, and we were forced to chase the game. Though this is a disappointing loss, we need to focus on the six points on the line this coming weekend."

The Bucs (3-8-3, 2-4-1 A-Sun) were outshot by the Dolphins (5-9-1, 3-4-0 A-Sun) in the match, 20-19. Jacksonville also had the advantage in corners 8-5.

The Dophins got on the board in the 21st minute as Stefan Runeman found a wide open Tyler Williams in front of the net for a goal to put Jacksonville up 1-0.

Casey Tafuri put JU up 2-0 in the 23rd minute with a one-timer off of a free kick from Davide Faga.

The Dolphins put the game out of reach in the 28th minute as Nedim Hrustic knocked in the cross from Christopher Helms to put JU up 3-0.

Freshman Theo Yang (Lilburn, Ga.) had a good look in the 29th minute as he fired a shot from just inside the 18 yard box past the JU keeper, but a Dolphin defender standing on the goal line made the save to keep the Bucs off of the board.

The second half saw a combined 25 shots, but ETSU was unable to find the back of the net as the Bucs were shutout in the match.

Scott Rosman (Kenner, La.) had five saves for the Buccaneers, while ETSU had five players with three shots in the game.

The Bucs are back in action on Friday at 3 p.m. as they host Lipscomb. For more information on Buccaneer men's soccer and all other Buccaneer athletic news, please visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
