JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2009) - After spending nine of its first 13 matches this season on the road, the ETSU women's soccer team opens the first of a three-match homestand with 4:00 p.m., contest Monday against Atlantic Sun Conference rival USC Upstate at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
The Bucs (3-10-0, 2-3) enter the match after dropping in heartbreaking fashion to Campbell last Thursday. In the match against the Camels, Campbell sophomore forward Annabelle Gibney broke the scoreless tie in overtime with the game winner in the 98th minute.
Individually, sophomore keeper Megan Masch (Virginia Beach, Va.), leads the Buccaneer defense with a conference-best 94 saves. The second-year starter also sits second among league keepers with a .817 save percentage through the first 13 matches.
USC Upstate (0-14-0, 0-5) enters the match looking for its first win of the season. The Spartans, losers of their last 22 straight contests, dropped their last match to Campbell 2-1, Saturday.
Offensively, freshman forward Dana Hillman leads the Upstate attack with four points. The Spartan newcomer netted both goals against Jacksonville September 25th.
Overall, ETSU leads the all-time series with USC Upstate 2-0-0. In their last meeting the Bucs outlasted the Spartans 2-1 last October in Spartanburg, S.C.
