CINCINNATI, Ohio (Oct. 23, 2009) - For the second straight day the ETSU women's tennis team made school history as the Lady Bucs picked up five wins during day two action of the Wilson ITA Regional Championships in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Friday morning ETSU had a program first as both Lady Buc doubles teams advanced to the Main Draw quarterfinals with wins inside the Western Tennis and Fitness Club.

The ETSU duo of sophomores Paula Jaime (Madrid, Spain), and Karina Kedzo (Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela), in addition to the team of senior Yevgeniya Stupak (Kyiv, Ukraine) and junior Kelly Holtzhausen (Johannesburg, South Africa), now sit three wins away from taking the Lady Bucs first title at the Regional Championships.

"Doubles is something Travis and the girls have worked hard out this fall," said head coach Steve Brooks. "We know in our dual matches in the spring, our play in doubles is going to be a key for us to win matches. Today both our teams played well. That's a credit to the work ethic and time all our girls have put in on the courts this fall in practice. We've had a lot of good players come through our program lately and for Paula, Karina, Yevgeniya and Kelly to do something great like they did today is truly special."

In singles action the Lady Bucs continued to roll as Stupak advanced to the Round of 32 with a strong 6-1, 6-4 victory, while Jaime and Holtzhausen advanced after pair of three-set comeback wins Friday afternoon.
