BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Oct. 23, 2009) - In the storied history of the ETSU men's tennis team, the Bucs did something that no other squad in program history did in previous seasons as head coach Yaser Zaatini's squad posted a flawless 7-0 mark in the Main Draw Bracket at the 2009 Ohio Valley Regional Championships at Indiana University.

"The best way to describe today is simply that the Bucs were perfect," said Zaatini. "I'm so proud of this team in how they've bought into our system with grit and determination. Every guy today came out with passion and fight throughout every match. This is a team of guys that have the intensity and drive to be the best everytime they set foot onto the court."

Overall, ETSU picked up four singles win over Southeastern Conference teams Vanderbilt and in-state rival Tennessee, in addition to winning a pair of matches over BigTen host Indiana.

In doubles action senior Daniel Isaza (Medellin, Colombia), and sophomore Robin Akser (Ornskoldsvik, Sweden), picked up the Bucs first win of the day with a strong 9-7 win over the Ball State team of Pavia and Albertin.

At the same time, three courts over, the ETSU junior team of Grega Teraz (Mojstrana,, Slovenia), and Charles Bottoni (Bois Guillaume, France), triumph over host Indiana's No. 1 doubles squad of MacTaggart and Juneau, 9-7.

Rounding out the pairs competetion for the Buc was the duo of sophomore Sander Gille (Kuringen, Belgium) and freshman Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela), who outlasted the Hoosiers No. 2 doubles team of Kendall and Van Gils 9-8 (2).

After posting a perfect 3-0 mark in doubles, the Bucs conutined their run in singles action as Bandres quick dismissed Eastern Kentucky's Verma Parul in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

Later in the afternoon Isaza added to the ETSU total with an impressive 6-4, 6-1 win over in-state rival Vanderbilt's Adam Baker, while Gille also earned a strong win over a Commodore with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Alex DiValerio.

Rounding out the head-to-head tally was Grega Teraz and Charles Bottoni, who continued to add the Buc winning streak, as the two sophomores defeated a pair of Vols. After spliting the first two sets 6-4, 4-6, Bottoni took control breaking Tennessee senior Matt Brewer's serve in the ninth game to take a 5-4 lead. For there the second-year transfer would not be stopped, as Bottoni served out the final game for the three-set victory at 6-4.

Like his classmate Teraz also had a thrilling match, against No. 20 ranked Boris Conkic. After dropping the first set 3-6, Teraz showed his willpower tying the match with a 6-2 second set win. From there the Mojstrana, Slovenia native crusied over 2009 All-SEC Second-team member- who was seeded No. 2 in the tournament - with a strong 6-4 final set win.
