Sunday, October 25, 2009
WINDERMERE, Fla. (Oct. 25, 2009) - Junior Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) continued his strong play this fall, firing a first round score of 1-under-par 71 Sunday to tie for ninth on the individual leaderboard in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational at the Isleworth Country Club.
While Enoch posted a Top 10 effort, no other ETSU men's golfer was able to finish higher than 33rd, leaving the Buccaneers 14th in a 15-team field that is arguably one of the strongest in college golf. No. 5 Stanford leads the event after carding a team score of 1-over 289, besting No. 8 Texas Christian by one stroke on the opening day of action, while No. 1 Oklahoma State is third and two strokes back of the lead.
Individually, Florida's Tim McKenney, Oklahoma State's Peter Uihlein and Stanford's Steve Ziegler are tied for the lead at 4-under 68.
Along with Enoch, other ETSU results included a tie for 33rd by sophomore Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) with a score of 4-over 76. Meanwhile, senior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) tied for 57th, while sophomore Devin Komline (Dorset, Vermont) and freshman Garth McGee (Bangor, Northern Ireland) tied for 69th.
