ETSU men's golf improves, Bucs move up two spots

            WINDERMERE, Fla. (Oct. 26, 2009) - Three of ETSU's five players improved their standing on the individual leaderboard, as the Buccaneers moved up two spots in the team standings during Monday's second round play in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational at the Isleworth Country Club.

 

            The Bucs improved their overall team score by 10 strokes, carding a 299 to go from 14th to a tie for 12th. Junior Rhys Enoch (Cornwall, England) continued his strong play, moving from a tie for ninth to a tie for seventh after posting a score of 2-over 74, and standing at 1-over 145 for the event. Meanwhile, sophomore Devin Komline (Dorset, Vermont) and senior Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) advanced 25 and 13 spots, respectively, as both players are now tied for 44th at 10-over 154 for the tournament. On the day, Komline (82-72=154) improved from a tie for 69th and Power (80-74=154) moved up from a tie for 57th.

 

            As for the tournament leaders, No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State currently leads by four strokes over No. 10 Florida, with the Cowboys posting a team score of 4-over 580 (291-289). Individually, Alabama's Bud Cauley stands at 5-under 139 and holds a two-stroke edge over Oklahoma State's Peter Uihlein at 141. Cauley is currently ranked 18th in the country, while Uihlein is ranked No. 2.

 

            Along with the trio of Enoch, Komline and Power, sophomore Michael Stewart (Troon, Scotland) finished tied for 48th after posting a 7-over 79 on Monday. Stewart stands at 11-over 155 for the event.

 

            Play in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational will continue with third and final round action set for Tuesday. ETSUBucs.com will provide daily updates following play, while Golfstat.com will offer live scoring and results.
