Monday, April 20, 2009

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 20, 2009) - The ETSU baseball team is set to head to in-state rival Tennessee Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Bucs (18-19, 9-12 A-Sun) are on a four game winning streak having swept USC Upstate this past weekend after defeating Tennessee Tech at Cardinal Park Wednesday. The Bucs are led offensively by senior Ben Allen (Kingsport, Tenn.) as he leads the team hitting .356 on the season. ETSU has won five of its last seven meetings against the Vols including a 2008 series sweep and a 9-3 win over Tennessee at Cardinal Park earlier this year.

Tennessee (19-22, 5-9 SEC) is coming off of big weekend as the Vols took two out of three from top ranked LSU on the road. The Vols are led by Cody Hawn and Blake Forsythe. As a team Tennessee has pounded out 74 doubles, ten triples and 62 home runs on the season.

The game can be heard live on ETSUBucs.com and on the radio on the Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation's family of stations, which include WKPT-AM (1400) and WKPT-FM (94.3) in Kingsport, WOPI-AM (1490) and WOPI-FM (97.9) in Bristol, and WKTP-AM (1590) and WKTP-FM (97.7) in Johnson City.
