Women's soccer helps out at Girls Inc.

Tuesday, March 03, 2009

(March 2, 2009) - The ETSU women's soccer players and coaches took time from their busy schedules last week to volunteer by hosting its annual women's soccer clinic at the Girls Inc. location in downtown Johnson City.

During the clinic the Bucs showed the 50 girls in attendance a variety of soccer skills, which included dribbling, heading and technical moves in addition to playing mini games.

"From the moment we arrived the girls were crowding around our players wanting to talk to them about soccer, academics and life building skills," said head coach Heather Henson. "It was so rewarding for our players and coaches to go to Girls Inc. and put on this clinic. Every time our team has gone there we have had a great reception from both the employees and girls in attendance. Our team looks forward to going back in the future and working with this great group of people."

The Bucs are just over three weeks away from beginning its 2009 spring season. The team opens play at Western Carolina March 28. ETSU's first home match of the spring will be April 18 during Alumni weekend.
