Women's soccer kicks off 2008 A-Sun tournament against Jacksonville

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (November 4, 2008) - After 17 regular season matches the ETSU women's soccer team kicks off its quest for a 2008 Atlantic Sun Conference tournament championship as the fifth seeded Bucs face off against the fourth seeded Jacksonville Dolphins, with a 4 p.m., match Wednesday in Kennesaw, Ga.
The Bucs (7-9-1, 5-4-1 A-Sun) come into the contest winning two of its last three matches. In their only previous meeting with Jacksonville, ETSU defeated the Dolphins 2-1, in overtime Sept. 26 at the Ashley Sports Complex.
Leading the way for the Bucs is junior forward Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) and sophomore midfielder Kelly Brinkman (Clearwater, Fla.). Both ETSU offensive attackers were recently named to the A-Sun all-conference second-team, Tuesday night. In the Bucs first meeting against the Dolphins, Monty found Brinkman for ETSU's game-winning goal with six minutes off the clock in overtime.
Jacksonville (9-8-1, A-Sun 6-4) enters the tournament posting four shutouts in its last five matches. Individually, senior forward Keri Zwikker leads the Dolphins with nine goals, six assists for 25 points.
The Bucs and Dolphins have met once previously in A-Sun postseason play. JU defeated ETSU 4-3, in penalty kicks knocking the Bucs out of the 2006 tournament.
