Women's soccer travels to Winthrop for its second exhibition game

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 21, 2008) -After opening the exhibition season with impressive win against Francis Marion last week, the ETSU women's soccer team will play its final preseason match this Friday, with a 7 p.m., contest at Winthrop.

 

The Bucs return to action, for their final tune-up after defeating the Patriots, 4-1 in their opening match. ETSU controlled the game from the beginning, jumping out to a three goal lead, before both teams traded late goals in the final five minutes of the second half.

 

Leading the way for the Bucs in that contest was sophomore forward Rachel Van Horn (Thousand Oaks, Cailf.), who posted two goals against the Patriots and senior defender Meredith Goldman (Knoxville) who tallied two assists.

 

This will be the first exhibition match for Winthrop. The Eagles return 12 letterwinners, from a squad that finished third in the Big South Conference, after posting a 7-8-4, overall record.
