Leading up to the 2008-09 ETSU women's basketball season, the ETSU media relations office, with help from graduate assistant Lindsay Christensen, will feature player profiles on all 12 of the Lady Buccaneer student-athletes. This new segment allows fans to catch a glimpse of what each player is doing off the court, as the Lady Bucs look to make a run at their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

Sophomore guard Sabrina Treakle (Richmond, Va.) spent some time out of her busy schedule to answer some questions with ETSU women's basketball grant team member Lindsay Christensen.

LC:  Why did you decide to come to ETSU?

ST:  I liked the team and the coaches, and I needed to get away from home. I love my home town, but it was important that I left for awhile.

LC: What is the best part about living in Johnson City?

ST: The people here are really nice, especially the athletes. Sometimes you have to make your own fun here, but it is a good place to go to school.

LC: What are you focusing on academically?

ST:  My major is criminal justice. I'm not positive what I'll do with it yet, but hopefully I'll end up as a probation officer, or with the FBI. I'm taking forensic science right now, and social problems, both of which are for my major. I like these classes, and am sure they will help me when I finish school.

LC:  What are your expectations for this year's team?

ST:  Probably the same as all of the players - which is win the championship again and go farther in the NCAA tournament. I think we have a good shot at doing that.

LC:  And what are your expectations for yourself?

ST: I'm hoping to earn more playing time this year and to contribute to the team as much as possible.

LC:  What are you most focused on improving this season?

ST:  I think my weaknesses are playing defense and seeing the floor. I will be working to improve both of these, but my main focus will be defense.

LC:  What do you do when you aren't playing ball or at school?

ST:  I spend a lot of time on my phone - I'm constantly texting. I also like to play video games, sleep, and hang out with my teammates.

LC: Who are your biggest motivators?

ST:  My family. They are always there to love and support me. They get me through the rough times. I moved hours away from home, but I still talk to them all the time.

LC:  Did you play any sports besides basketball before you got to college?

ST:  I played softball in high school (third and short), but basketball always came first. I have always liked soccer, but my school didn't have it, so I wasn't ever able to play.

LC:  If you could make one drastic change about yourself, what would it be, and why?

ST:  My mouth and my attitude. I can't always control what I say. Anything can come out at any time, and occasionally it gets me in trouble.

LC:  If you had to trade lives with one teammate, who would you trade with?

ST:  Siarre Evans - She has been through a lot, and we sort of come from the same place. I think she is a lot like me. Plus, she cares about kids, which is important to me.

LC:  What do you plan on doing after college?

ST:  I'll probably start as a police officer. I'd really like to bring down the bad guys!  Eventually I'll become a probation officer or part of the FBI. I'll probably live close to home, in the Richmond area, or maybe farther north, but still in Virginia.

Treakle and the Lady Bucs will be in action this weekend, as ETSU heads to Evansville for its season opener. Tip is set for 5 p.m. (EST) inside Roberts Stadium. Fans can also catch the Lady Bucs in their home opener when they "Pack the House" versus #12 Vanderbilt on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
